About Us

Los Angeles Bicycle Academy (L.A.B.A) is a youth bicycle education and safety program, community bike shop, and cycling race team with a mission to empower, educate, and develop entrepreneurial and leadership skills in youth. Our focus is to work with youth from underserved communities where opportunity, access, equity, and exposure within the sport of cycling is extremely limited. Through our Earn-A-Bike, Race Team, LABA Road Club, Workforce Development, and Career Exploration programs, young people have the opportunity to thrive and learn life lessons, all through the power of a bicycle!

The success of our organization is contingent upon generous supporters who have a passion for bettering the lives of underserved youth through the sport of cycling.

OUR TEAM

In previous years, LABA operated a dedicated youth cycling team that served as a development pipeline for young riders to explore, grow, and advance in the sport of cycling. This prior team was made up of youth and young adults who were passionate about riding and committed to strengthening their skills, with many aspiring to race professionally. During its active seasons, the team played a key role in bridging an underserved gap by providing access, mentorship, and meaningful opportunities for emerging cyclists. Although the official cycling team is no longer active, its impact continues to shape the young people who participated and reflects LABA’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth through movement, community, and opportunity.

School Partnerships

Los Angeles Bicycle Academy’s Bicycle Education and Safety program is a comprehensive curriculum designed to teach students to travel safely on a bicycle. Our curriculum recognizes that classes will often be comprised of students with varying skill levels. Through a combination of in-class instruction, skill-based activities, and on-the-bicycle training, students will learn the parts of the bicycle, proper helmet and bicycle fitting, traffic rules and regulations, potential hazards when operating a bicycle, and handling skills needed to effectively, appropriately, and safely cycle through their community and beyond.
